In northeast Alabama

DeKalb Marshall

This includes the cities of... Fort Payne and Guntersville.




Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Cullman County in north central Alabama...
southern Morgan County in north central Alabama...
DeKalb County in northeast Alabama...
south central Jackson County in northeast Alabama...
Marshall County in northeast Alabama...

* until 445 PM CST

* at 202 PM CST... numerous Road closings and flash flooding were
reported across northeast Alabama. Moderate to heavy rainfall of
one quarter to one half inch per hour is possible... with isolated
higher amounts in thunderstorms. This will prolong or worsen
existing flooding problems... and could create additional ones.
Therefore... the warning is being extended until 445 PM CST.

* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Morgan
City... Sylvania... section... Rainsville... Powell... Henagar...
Hartselle... Hanceville... Guntersville... Grant... Good Hope...
Geraldine... Fyffe... Fort Payne... Falkville... Cullman...
Crossville... Collinsville... Boaz... Arab and Albertville.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flash flooding is imminent or
occurring. If you are in the warning area move to higher ground
immediately. Residents living along streams and creeks should take
immediate precautions to protect life and property. Do not attempt to
cross swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by
automobile.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... country roads... as well as farmland along the
banks of creeks and streams.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville al has issued a
* Flood Warning for
the Paint Rock river near Woodville
* from late tonight until Thursday afternoon
* at 7 am Tuesday the stage was 7.4 feet
* minor flooding is forecast
* flood stage is 16.0 feet
* forecast... rise above flood stage by after midnight tomorrow and
continue to rise to near 17.0 feet by early Thursday morning. The
river will fall below flood stage by late Thursday morning.
* Impact... at 16.0 feet... flood waters affect mostly bottomland along
the river... including low-lying farm and pasturelands.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 16.2 feet
on Nov 5 2004.

Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north Alabama and southern middle Tennessee...
including the following areas... in north Alabama... Colbert...
Cullman... DeKalb... Franklin... Jackson... Lauderdale...
Lawrence... Limestone... Madison... Marshall and Morgan. In
southern middle Tennessee... Franklin... Lincoln and Moore.

* Through this evening

* periods of moderate to heavy rain will continue to affect the
Tennessee Valley through this evening... as a low pressure system
approaches the lower Mississippi Valley and tracks to the
northeast. Rainfall totals through mid morning have reached
nearly 3 inches in parts of Cullman... Marshall... and DeKalb
counties... with one half to one inch elsewhere across the
region. Additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches can be expected...
with the highest amounts likely to occur in Cullman...
Marshall... and DeKalb counties... where the heaviest rain has
already fallen.

* Storm total rainfall amounts will range from two to four
inches... with isolated locations receiving over five inches.
Multiple reports of flooding have already been received... and
additional flooding on and around creeks and rivers is expected
as more rainfall moves into the area. In addition... some larger
area rivers are forecast to approach or exceed flood stage.
Monitor the latest river flood watches... warnings... or
statements for the latest on the flooding risks for larger rivers.

A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible but not imminent in
the watch area. People in the watch area are advised to check
preparedness requirements... keep informed... and be ready for
quick action if flooding threatens.
