The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southern Franklin County in Tennessee...
southern Lincoln County in Tennessee...
Cullman County in north central Alabama...
Limestone County in north central Alabama...
Madison County in north central Alabama...
Morgan County in north central Alabama...
DeKalb County in northeast Alabama...
Jackson County in northeast Alabama...
Marshall County in northeast Alabama...
Lawrence County in northwest Alabama...

* until 830 PM CST

* at 426 PM CST... numerous reports of flooding and flash flooding
were received throughout north central and northeast Alabama.
Moderate rainfall was continuing... with rainfall of at least a
tenth of an inch per hour across most of the area. The continuing
rainfall will prolong or worsen existing flooding problems and
could create additional flood concerns.

* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to New
Hope... Woodville... Trinity... Stevenson... Skyline... section...
Scottsboro... Rainsville... Priceville... Owens Crossroads...
Courtland... New Market... Moulton... Madison... Ider... Huntsville...
Hanceville... Guntersville... Fort Payne... Decatur... Cullman...
Crossville... Collinsville... Bridgeport... Boaz... Athens... Arab...
Albertville... Winchester... and Sewanee.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flash flooding is imminent or
occurring. If you are in the warning area move to higher ground
immediately. Residents living along streams and creeks should take
immediate precautions to protect life and property. Do not attempt to
cross swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by
automobile.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country
roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low
lying areas are subject to flooding.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville al has issued a
* Flood Warning for
the big Nance creek at Courtland
* from Wednesday afternoon until Wednesday evening
* at 1 PM Tuesday the stage was 7.8 feet
* minor flooding is forecast
* flood stage is 14.0 feet
* forecast... rise to flood stage by tomorrow early afternoon.
* Impact... at 14.0 feet... lowland flooding begins on the left bank
of the river.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 14.7
feet on Mar 7 2004.

... Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north Alabama and southern middle Tennessee...
including the following areas... in north Alabama... Colbert...
Cullman... DeKalb... Franklin... Jackson... Lauderdale...
Lawrence... Limestone... Madison... Marshall and Morgan. In
southern middle Tennessee... Franklin... Lincoln and Moore.

* Through this evening

* periods of moderate to heavy rain will continue to affect the
Tennessee Valley through this evening... as a low pressure system
approaches the lower Mississippi Valley and tracks to the
northeast. Rainfall totals through mid morning have reached
nearly 3 inches in parts of Cullman... Marshall... and DeKalb
counties... with one half to one inch elsewhere across the
region. Additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches can be expected...
with the highest amounts likely to occur in Cullman...
Marshall... and DeKalb counties... where the heaviest rain has
already fallen.

* Storm total rainfall amounts will range from two to four
inches... with isolated locations receiving over five inches.
Multiple reports of flooding have already been received... and
additional flooding on and around creeks and rivers is expected
as more rainfall moves into the area. In addition... some larger
area rivers are forecast to approach or exceed flood stage.
Monitor the latest river flood watches... warnings... or
statements for the latest on the flooding risks for larger rivers.

A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible but not imminent in
the watch area. People in the watch area are advised to check
preparedness requirements... keep informed... and be ready for
quick action if flooding threatens.
